Thinking of getting Kyleena coil, what’s your experience?

hi!

So I’ve been going back and forth for months about getting the coil.

I was on contraception for a long time and had to come off due to migraines. I trialed MANY progesterone only pills and had really bad mental health side effects. since then I’ve been off anything for 9 years and now have a child too.

so I’ve added up the maths and I’m usually like clockwork and I’m due for my wedding day next year!

I’ve booked in for the kyleena coil (as has the lowest dose of hormone) in hope it will help reduce my periods to lighter atleast for my wedding, but I don’t know if I want to go ahead with it.

I can’t take the period delay tablets as the high dose of progesterone will cause my mental health to trigger.

just can’t decide what to do - experience of coils please?? How were they?? In lightening periods etc?

thanks 😊

I am the same. Have to have progesterone only due to migraines and never got on with the pill/implant/injection.

Have the mireana coil for four years and I really rate it. No periods (the used to be HEAVY) and no babies. Am noticing a bit of light spotting now it's getting close to needing changing but that's it.

Would def go for merina over others as it last a long time, is more likely to stop your periods and is still a low dose of hormones.

@Runningonjammiedodgers Thanks for the reply! Nice to hear a positive story.

do you mind me asking what you struggled with with progesterone contraception?

Bleed almost constantly with all three kinds I tired. Great contraception as I never wanted to have sex!

I have the Klyeena now and I like it (had two Jaydess before so seven years total) but it hasn't stopped my periods. Probably lighter. I was horribly affected by all pills I tried and don't have these problems with it.
