HRT?

I'm in my late fifties, went through the menopause approx five years ago. I didn't have any problems so didn't ask for/wasn't offered HRT but lately I'm worried that maybe I'm missing out on some health benefits? Am I?

Have you had a bone density scan? I'd say protecting your bones is probably the clearest area of benefit from HRT other than alleviating any symptoms. It's worth getting checked - if you do have low bone density there are non-HRT things that you should be doing. As I understand it it's the decade around menopause where hormone related bone density loss is sharpest so I think you've probably missed the key time when HRT helps though it's worth exploring with medics.

Thanks Una, I hadn't even thought of that!
