Cervical cancer or PID?

Panthereyes · 04/07/2023 16:36

I was seen by the GP two weeks ago, she told me I had an inflamed cervix. She took a swab that has come back negative (this only tested for sti's no other bacteria) and referred me to the colposcopy clinic. In the last few days I have been having a lot of lower abdominal discomfort and today I have noticed a small amount of brown blood on wiping after a wee.
My referral says I need to wait until Friday and chase if I have not heard anything. I have googled my symptoms and they seem to show either cancer or PID. I am concerned and the waiting is horrible.

How are you doing? @Panthereyes
I'm having similar atm bleeding in between periods and abdominal pain! I went to the sexual health clinic and swabs came back negative.

I have been seen by gynae and they have referred me for a colposcopy. Just waiting for the appointment to come through.

How you feeling about it?

Panthereyes · 13/08/2023 22:06

More relaxed as the gynae seemed to think it was just an ectropian, but she said it is looking inflamed so she wanted me to have the colposcopy to be sure but she was reassuring. The abdominal discomfort has eased. Have you been referred for any further investigation?

No I can't even get a appointment at my gp until next month! Are you on the pill? Ectropions are very common if you take hormones

Panthereyes · 15/08/2023 13:42

Yes I have been on the pill for years, but decided to come off it 4 weeks ago. I know I have had an ectropian for a while as it was picked up at my last smear but I think it is the fact it is inflammed they are concerned about. I feel for you the waiting is rubbish.
