Pain area in left breast

For the past 3 weeks or so I’ve had a more or less constant pain in one area of my left breast. Noticeably painful when I press the area but I can’t feel a lump. Also noticeably painful if i twist or take a deep intake of breath.

I have waited to see if it came and went with normal cycle changes but it hasn’t and feels very different to my other breast or any pain I’ve had in my breast before. I know I need to see a GP and plan to call on Monday but wondered if anyone has had breast cysts and whether they are painful at all? It doesn’t feel like generalised tender breasts, I can really pinpoint it to one spot

im 42 and definitely having some perimenopausal symptoms and have been using Cyclogest pessaries for the past 6 months for awful PMS so I wonder if these have anything to do with it?

Of course, get it checked. Not to worry you, but I had pain in a specific place in the breast and there was no lump. Mammogram was all clear, but ultrasound detected something. Mine was cancer.

I'm waiting on an appointment with my GP for similar, except mine is much more intermittent (bloody hurts when it makes an appearance mind!). I also waited to see if it was linked to my cycle but there's no pattern there unfortunately so off to the doctors I go.

I did also consult doctor Google and the general consensus seems to be that breast pain without a lump is very unlikely to be cancer. So fingers crossed for both of us!

Thanks TrueScrumptious this is what is worrying me at the back of my mind I must admit.
I will contact GP and push for 2ww referral for my own piece of mind if nothing else. I hope you are doing well now

I had breast pain for weeks. It was a really strange pain in just one breast, a pain I'd never had before.

GP said if there are no lumps felt then they prescribe 6 week course of ibuprofen. If it is still there after, go from there.
I decide against taking them, and it eventually went away.

Wishing you well.

How are you getting on OP? I had a telephone consultation today, they want me to go in for a breast examination tomorrow and again on Thursday for bloods and an ECG (with it being left sided they want to rule out anything heart related).

I was a bit surprised at how seriously they took it, but pleased I suppose.

I went to see my GP today as over the weekend I did actually find a very small lump- which may be cyst as small, smooth and mobile but it freaked me out.
GP doesn’t think it’s anything to worry about as in his experience it’s painless lumps that are more sinister but he is putting in a 2 week wait breast referral so I can get it checked out. I’m not sure how I feel now- glad it’s going to get looked at properly but also a bit unnerved that he is taking it seriously too.

Well done on acting so quickly, very sensible. Will keep my fingers crossed for you.

I think he has to if there’s the slightest question OP.
To reassure you, I was told at my 4 year post breast cancer check that the only pain in that area that is cancer would be secondary bone cancer.

@Moveonward how did you get on? I currently have this, I've just made a post on general health

Moveonward · 04/02/2024 17:02

Hi - i did go to the breast one stop clinic and had a mammogram and ultrasound of my breast and they found nothing. The lump I felt went down and the pain went away and hasn’t reoccurred. So odd and very unsettling at the time. At no point did the breast clinic make me feel that I was being silly or a hypochondriac so it’s worth getting checked out.

I had a similar pain that ended up being muscular. It was a scary time but I was seen and checked very quickly.
