Bleeding after starting combined pill

Hello

Since my periods returned 12 months after having DC2 they have been incredibly heavy. To the point that I’m using super plus tampons and a pad needing to be changed regularly. They’ve been regular enough but it’s miserable and often make me nauseous. I went to my GP who was great and referred me for bloods and a scan to check for polyps, fibroids etc. All came back normal.

I went on hols recently and so I ended up back on Microgynon, which I took for years prior to having my kids, as I was due on at the start of my holiday and I really needed something to help with the heaviness. Anyway, 2 weeks into taking the pack I start bleeding. Not as heavy as my period but enough to need to wear a tampon and this bleeding has now persisted for 3 weeks (including over my holiday, doh!). I went back to the doctor and she said give it another 8 weeks and it’s just my body getting used to it but it seems an awfully long time and I don’t fancy another possible 2 months plus of bleeding.
Originally thought it was breakthrough bleeding but this seems too much.

Anyone else had the same?

Hi OP, wondering similar now - what happened in the end? x

@waitingforautumn i came off it as after being on it for a few months my mental health took a decline and my anxiety was through the roof. No other change in my life so I can only think it didn’t agree with me. I’m now on Desogestrel, cycle is all over the place still and I don’t love taking hormones but giving it a go for another few months. X

Thanks for responding! Sorry to hear. Hope things iron out soon. Wonder what's in store for me! Just began using the patch (same as combined pill) and I've basically just had back to back periods 🙄

I should follow on to say the bleeding persisted for 6 weeks all in all. Not enjoyable!

@waitingforautumn It definitely varies a lot from person to person. Hope it doesn’t go on much longer for you because it’s so annoying.
