Treatment abroad - any experience

Hi, I was wondering how common it is to seek treatment abroad for things like endometriosis given the NHS waiting times of 2-3 years. I have been waiting to just see a specialist since September... Private is so expensive here, it must be cheaper going to another country in Europe, but I'm not sure how it works. Has anybody done this?

No idea how much it costs to be treated abroad, but one of my brothers lives in Spain and he's had (a lot) of hospital treatment there. He says it's absolutely amazing and the surgeons have been correcting a lot of treatment he was given in Ireland.
