Hi , just wondered how long you waited to get your results back from womb biopsy after hysteroscopy ? I had hysteroscopy privately in spire hospital and I have been waiting for 8 weeks now for my results but I have heard nothing still , is this normal waiting time or have they lost my results ? Thank you for any advice I get ❤️

That's way too long. Ring up and shout at them. There's a lady on a thread I'm on and hers took two weeks.

BigGapMum · 12/06/2023 14:48

I've had a hysteroscopy recently and got the results after 4 days on the hospital app. The letter arrived a couple of days later. I would suggest you chase them up. Hope it's a negative for you.

Mine was nhs but sent to my dr and available on the nhs app 3 days after. The letter was emailed a couple of days after that. Can you speak to the secretary? 8 weeks is far too long.

Harebrain · 12/06/2023 15:24

I had one in the NHS and had the results a week later.

Thank you everyone ! I really though too that 8 weeks is so long ! Specially as I paid private too . Does anyone know if private hospitals send biopsy’s to nhs hospitals and maybe it’s Covid backlog and that’s why it’s been so long ?

They do send them to a nhs lab. However there was never a backlog for testing as such. It was more that people didn't get tests done. When done the slides got read as quickly as usual. Yours should be back. You need to hassle your gynae.

Ok everyone , I got a phone call and private hospital lost my results and that’s that . Didn’t give me an option for another biopsy just said sorry ect ! 😞

Wtf! Did they actually send it to the lab? If so the lab can reissue the report. If they didn't send the sample then they need to carry out another procedure for free, pay to fast track results, grovel and hope you don't name and Shame!

Infertilitylady · 15/06/2023 18:16

@fuckmyuteruslining , thank you for replying , I’m just at a loss , they said they lost it so I don’t know what they mean by that . Also if I do get another procedure , there will be nothing to biopsy as the polyps been removed already so no polyp to remove anymore to biopsy . And I really needed this results as I’m ivf patient and recurrent pregnancy loss patient who needed answers why it’s happening and this could of possibly be the reason , maybe infection or hormone related I was told , now I don’t know the answer , I also paid over 3k to have it done too just not to even get the results , I don’t know what to do , I don’t want to cause problems for the hospital or ask for free precedure as it’s so expensive .. 😩 I’m not a person to take advantages . I’m a good person 🙁

You are a good person. They are not. I'm very sorry you have had such a hard time getting pregnant. It may be removing the polyps improves the uterus as an environment and you do get pregnant successfully. However whatever happens this is a really serious failing.
You should write to the hospital director, make them aware what you were told and explain you require redress. It's not ok for this to happen. On the nhs we would be holding an investigation, repeating the procedure and grovelling.
I very much hope you will get your baby soon, when you are somebody's mum it unleashes a tiger in you, there's nothing you won't do and nobody you won't deal with if it's what your kid needs. Find that tiger now OP. Give them hell. This is not ok.

My local NHS large teaching hospital has a notice in the gynae-oncology clinic waiting room that endometrial biopsy results can take up to four weeks.

I had a hysteroscopy over 6 weeks ago and an endometrial biopsy. (Not currently on the fast track cancer pathway but I have a history of very large fibroids, endometrial hyperplasia and post-menopausal bleeding.) I am still waiting to be sent a copy of the pathology report and no copy has been sent to my GP, either. I'll be chasing my consultant's secretary on Monday as it can also take two weeks for letters to be dictated, typed up and sent (second class) to the patient. At this rate, it could be 7 or 8 weeks before I get my results. My consultant is anticipating that the hyperplasia will have resolved as a recent MRI scan showed that the endometrial lining was now normal thickness, following several months of treatment with medroxyprogesterone. But over 6 weeks is a long time to wait for results.

OP, the private hospital should have a patient liaison officer. Their contact details may be in the leaflets and terms and conditions you would have been given. I would start by speaking to them about what has happened.

The pathology lab that processed the sample should have a copy of your report on file.
