Tablets that delay periods - anyone tried these?

I am due to be on my period when we go away in August to Turkey. I want to avoid this. I’ve just seen Boots sell a tablet to delay your period. Has anyone tried these?! I’ve been free of contraceptive hormones for 9 years so am a bit worried about any side affects but they can’t be worse than my period surely?! They say they work by giving you extra progesterone.

You have to take them early enough otherwise they won't work on time and then I've always got my period about 3-4 days after stopping them.

I didn't have any side effects at all.

Same experience for me too, great. My period after was a bit light, the following one late, then back to normal.

Thanks for replying! Yes Norethisterone! I was Googling if I could get the pill over the counter to use that but then came across the delay pill. Never knew such a thing existed! Wish it did 14
years ago when I was on my period on my wedding day!

Yes, only took these last week as I was attending a wedding and in the wedding party so didn't want the faff. No side effects other than I would say my first day when I did get my period felt slightly heavier than normal, but nothing to write home about. If you are worried about side effects could you delay your July period so that your holiday falls mid cycle rather than delaying while on your holiday?
