Missed period not pregnant when to go the docs

So I last had a period in mid April and absolutely nothing since. I am not pregnant (almost had a heart attack doing the test as I am not in a position for a third child). Test was negative and a decent make so I am confident I am not expecting. I have no pregnancy symptoms or feeling of being unwell other than my usual shattered status (but that is as I work two jobs).

I am 40 years old. Could this be the start of peri-menopause? Is it normal for periods to be irregular or missed altogether? Should I go the doctor or just wait and see what happens? Advice appreciated! x

Weight loss?
Stress?

No weight loss - if anything weight gain although again thats been over the last 18 months or so and due to working from home and not doing as much exercise. I am busy but I dont feel particularly stressed.

Did you have longer periods and irregular periods before your periods just stopped?

Nope not really - I've very occasionally had a late or missed period before, but it's never been this long. I'm generally every 28-30 days or so. There have been occasions where I was around 10 days late and panicked I was pregnant but it always arrived in the end. My periods are generally light and last 2-3 days. I've had no spotting or bleeding at all. Just nothing!

Ps - It's worth me saying I don't plan to have any more children so although early I am not concerned if this is the start of menopause, however I am more concerned about whether i should be investigating further.
