How quickly can thrush develop after sex?

Is it possible for thrush to develop within 12 hours of having sex? I have a burning sensation on the vulva and a bit of discomfort when having a wee, but not the stabbing pain in the bladder which is typical of a water infection, and no visible injuries (it’s not a different STI because I’m married and DH is fine)

Are you sure it’s not a UTI? I developed a UTI 12 hours after sex this week and the bladder pain didn’t start until day 3. I’ve had to go and get antibiotics today and dip test showed bacteria and blood.

Yes, thrush can definitely appear within 12 hours. Everytime we have sex when I'm pregnant, the following morning my DP wakes up with thrush. I never have any symptoms whatsoever luckily for me.

Thrush can develop at any time, including at times of no sex…so it can develop any time before, during or after and have nothing to do with the sex at all.
