Provera

I’m just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of provera

I was prescribed a 2 week course of this by the GP to delay a period and started taking it 3 days before period was due to start. All went well until day 7 of taking the tablets when I started bleeding. I stopped taking them at this point and I’m now on day 13 of bleeding with no sign of it stopping. It’s lighter than a normal period for me and obviously going on longer, usually my periods are 5 days. I have no cramps or other period like symptoms so I’m not really sure what’s going on!

Have previously used norethisterone with no issues and GP said Provera would work in the same way. I’m not sure whether to contact my GP or whether this is normal and I just need to persevere and give it more time? Wish I’d never taken the flipping things now 😂

Hi @Neonbug how are you doing now? Just found your thread after searching for a similar problem! I took for 10 days, didn't bleed till 3 days later but have now been bleeding for 8day, I'm having quite intense cramps & passing lots of clots. Usual period like you is 5 days so this is most unusual. Hopefully things stop soon!

Hi @Dancingfairydreams

I’m still bleeding almost a month on! The doctor didn’t seem concerned and said things can take a while to settle when I spoke to them the other week but what a nightmare. I wish I’d never taken them 😂

I hope things stop for you soon 🤞

Oh god! That's awful!! 😱 That's a crazy amount of time, bless you!

At least the GP didn't seem concerned 👍
