Pelvic pain- sore & occasionally stabby

For the past 48 hours I've had a really sore left spot in my pelvis. Constant heaviness/aching, and then stabby when I move.

Just finished my period. Periods are unbelievably heavy, but tend to only last 5 days. Have always been heavy though. I'm 42.

Been to the doctor who made me do a wee sample, which was clear, referred me for an urgent ultrasound and sent me off to hospital to give a blood sample. Told me if it gets worse to go to a&e.

Also given me a course of antibiotics- just to be on the safe side.

He's not sure if it's bowel related or ovary related. I am sore, and irritable, and tired due to lack of sleep last night.

Wonder how long the scan will take to come through?

Anyone else had something similar? The pain is localised but constant, and the jabbiness when I move is making me squawk in pain!

I have endometriosis and that’s how my diagnosis started. It can’t be diagnosed via ultrasound though, you have to have a diagnostic operation. Not saying that’s what it is but if the ultrasound comes back with nothing then ask about endometriosis.

You need to see a gynaecologist ideally re both the heavy periods and this issue now. If it is endometriosis (and this can also cause heavy bleeding to arise) an internal ultrasound scan is not going to detect it. Nor will a blood test. If you did end up going into A & E they should refer you onto gynaecology for further evaluation.

Thanks both, hadn't thought of endo- as being 42 naively thought if I had it, I'd know about it.

But I am fed up, of pain and discomfort and the heavy periods. Ideally I want them to let me have ablation so that I can move on from the monthly agony.

This new pain has made me wonder what's going on in there... hopefully the appointment won't be too long away. At least I can get seen and then escalate if there is "nothing to see".
