I had a hysteroscopy a couple of weeks ago. The Dr decided that it wasn't cancer but essentially my prolapse is bad and so he has put me forward for a hysterectomy. He said he'd mark it 'urgent' but didn't know the wait list time. There has been silence since and I don't know what happens next. Will they phone me up in however many months time saying 'your op is scheduled for next Friday' or am I likely to get some sort of letter giving an indication for wait time.

I'm trying to fathom when it may be roughly so I can prep my work accordingly. I have the sort of job which is specialised and only I have the qualifications to carry it out so therefore need to belt and brace before I go off. I am not sure if I should phone the original gynae consultant and ask them. I just have the thought of this form the hysteroscopy consultant filled out floating in a large pile of paperwork somewhere.

Anyone got any experience of potential wait times?

I’d ring the consultants secretary and ask.
