Need help understanding endometrial thickness and pathways

I had my second vaginal scan in 5 months recently- had each for different reasons.

The second one was because of one instance (may be relevant) of breakthrough bleeding 5 months after starting HRT.

I am emphatically not post menopausal which is why the results are confusing me. Before starting HRT I had what I consider minor symptoms - night sweats and occasional flooding. Intolerance to alcohol , nausea , poor sleep at times. Periods were regular.

Anyway, after this one instance of a 12 day bleed, the GP sent me for a scan which I was surprised by.

I went to see her today for results. I tried to listen hard to what she said but she has quite a strong accent and this , coupled with jargon, meant I didn't ask questions. After coming home and googling I have some! The internet is not helping much!

My endometrial thickness is 8.3mm. She said it should be 4.3. Not sure internet agrees, except for post menopausal women.

She has put me on 2 week cancer pathway to speed things up. She mentioned a 'tube'. What happens next, does anyone know? I have a friend who had a hysteroscopy and has terrified me (she told me this ages ago : wasn't doing it today to frighten me).

If I am reading stuff right this seems perhaps the wrong pathway for a perimenopausal woman. I don't know who I can speak to who speaks clearly and will offer me more than a minute of their time (sorry - not normally negative about GPs - she is very pleasant. I just feel like I have no knowledge of this stuff and they don't explain)

I think I will leave any questions about what if it is cancer? If it isn't , what is it? for now...

I had a hysteroscopy. Was also terified. Took co codomol and neurofen before I went and it was fine and he was really rummaging. The staff are lovely. So my lining is thicker 8.5mm but was told that although over 4 ish is not notmal, they don't do anything until it is over 10 mm.

Thanks!

Not sure I fancy a rummage...
