3d mammogram and then 2d mammogram?

I was referred for a mammogram after noticing some changes in my breast. The consultant requested a 3d mammogram as my breasts are dense apparently. Halfway through doing the 3d mammogram today, the radiographer suddenly said she wanted to do 2d one as well. Has anyone experienced this? It's made me worried that she saw something.

I know this is a bit of an older thread but OP - did you get an outcome from your tests? I had a dimple change (no palpable lump or mass/thickening etc) that was referred. Initial 2D mammo and recalled for 3D mammo due to density on the left breast - had the 3d follow up this morning which is around 3 weeks after the first - and was just told I'd hear within 2-3 weeks, or maybe sooner if anything needed further review. totally unsure as to how concerned I might need to be (frantically concerned at the mo actually!!)

Hi gr1981,
I also have dense breast tissue due to my age (similar age to you if your username is birth year) which meant they wanted to do 3D mammogram to be certain all was clear. I'd had an ultrasound prior to the mammogram. I think they just did the 2d mammogram for completeness.

I then had a follow up consultation after the mammograms, and they did another physical examination. They were content that there wasn't any issue.

I hope you get your results soon, it's unsettling isn't it.

Thanks so much for replying! Yes username is birth year ;)

Glad to hear all was well with you and it turned out to all be ok. The not knowing is the worst! 🤦
