Nexplanon after c section - very heavy periods (tmi warning)

Hello everyone.

I had an emergency c section at the end of November 22.

My first two periods after that were extremely heavy. In February I got the nexplanon implant inserted and the GP instructed me to take a progesterone only contraceptive pill alongside it for the first three months.

I actually ended up only taking it for 2 months as I went on holiday and forgot all about it. For those first couple of months I had no period and everything was fine.

A few weeks after stopping the pill (so now I am on the implant only) I have been having an extremely heavy period for the last four days. Not only is the bleeding heavy but it's coming out in big clots.

(tmi - it looks like I've scooped jelly onto the pad. One clot literally looked like a red slug).

I want to ask if this is normal or not. All I can find online is aimed at young girls starting their periods explaining that it coming out in clumps is fine. However any clumps I've had before have been small and nothing like this. Is it something I need to return to the GP for? I feel sort of silly for going to the GP telling them that I am having a heavy period.

I still have another month worth of pills that I could take but I don't know if that's just putting off the problem until next month and potentially neglecting my health.

Sounds like the pill worked well but the implant isn't. I would maybe ask to have the implant removed and just try the pill by itself. Never heard of both being used at once before but obviously I'm not a medical professional!

Watching with interest as my periods post baby (15mo) are horrendous. Unlike you I’m not on any form of birth control and the clots are big!
