Lump on vulva but I don't think it's a Bartholins cyst

I've got a lump on my vulva by the vaginal opening which feels quite big. It's not sore but it does feel kind of swollen.

The thing is, I've had it for years. I went to the GP about it ages ago (probably 5 years) and she thought it was a Bartholins cyst. But from what I've read on here and elsewhere, Bartholins cysts are usually more of an acute thing - something that appears, causes pain, is treated or comes to a head of its own accord and goes away.

Can a Bartholins cyst just hang around for years and years? What else could it be? Do I need to go back to the GP or would I be wasting their time since they've looked at it before?

I'm wondering if it could be some kind of small hernia?
