Reasons I could've missed a period if husband had a vasectomy

I'm early 40's and have missed a period. As title say H has had the snip and has had the follow up tests to check it's worked.

Should I be worried as I've never missed period before?

What other reasons should I be considering?

Could be premenopausal, but I'd definitely do a pregnancy test. You do hear stories of plucky little sperms making their way through.

Azandme · 02/05/2023 09:54

Menopause.

gamerchick · 02/05/2023 09:54

Sometimes we just miss. Peri can make them go a bit wonky. Stress can do it.

It doesn't take much to upset the monthlys.

Stress

Illness

Perimenopause

Do a test. It’s more common than people think for it to not work

AxolotlOnions · 02/05/2023 09:57

Perimenopause, stress, illness, pregnancy (vasectomy reversed itself)...

lljkk · 02/05/2023 10:48

Because that's what periods do. They really aren't little clocks.

partypompoms · 03/05/2023 12:40

I honestly can't stomach doing a test.

I honestly can't stomach doing a test.

What else will you do? Wait 9 months and see if a baby comes out?

Just test, it is unlikely you are pregnant, most like peri, stress or just skipping a cycle. It happens.

user1483387154 · 03/05/2023 13:16

If no cheating happened, then perimenopause is my first thought

Noteification · 03/05/2023 13:22

Most women in their early 40s won't conceive easily, a vasectomy reversing itself is also unlikely. Both together the chances of you being pregnant... well you'd have more luck finding a needle in a haystack.
It is very likely it is the early stages of menopause, but take a test if it puts your mind at ease.

I missed one last month randomly. Not pregnant. It appeared on the usual day the next month

I honestly can't stomach doing a test.

What's the alternative?

tiredhadenough · 03/05/2023 13:34

Did your husband do the final check?

There is no scenario in which not knowing if you’re pregnant is preferable to knowing one way or the other. If you are concerned you might be pregnant, why on earth wouldn’t you test? I can’t follow your thinking here.

Theredfoxfliesatmidnight · 03/05/2023 13:36

If he's had the snip and the follow up checks, as you say in your OP, then it's highly unlikely (impossible?) you're pregnant. Just do the test it will put your mind at rest x

JuneOsborne · 03/05/2023 13:36

This happened to me. I had a vitamin D deficiency.

Theredfoxfliesatmidnight · 03/05/2023 13:38

Other reasons: stress, being underweight /overweight, perimenopause, and the fact periods are awkward little bastards. Who amongst us hasn't come on on holiday 😁

CaffeinateMeNow · 03/05/2023 14:01

Covid. Only time in my life (other than pregnancy) I've been late. Am 46. I was 13 days late in the end. DH has also had vasectomy.

hopeishere · 03/05/2023 14:20

Menopause or stress.

WotNoUserName · 03/05/2023 14:36

I'm 47 and on day 43 of my cycle, my partner had a vasectomy 25 years ago. My last 2 periods were far lighter than usual.

I've had a few long cycles over the past few years so I'm guessing it's either perimenopause or a miracle. I'm hoping for the former as I'm well past nappies and sleepless nights. My partner is a granddad and that's tiring enough!
