TMI* Blister on labia majora

Hi,
As title suggests, I've had a blister on the outer labia for a good 7 months, it's a purple/blue colour. Round dome shaped and soft. It doesn't hurt at all. Like I said its been there a good few months. I have no symptoms. It's not painful at all and unless I look i wouldn't notice it there. Yesterday night however it felt uncomfortable, not painful but I could notice it there and then yesterday afternoon when I wiped it started to bleed. And the blood just kept pouring out for a good 5 minutes. I squeezed it a little and it went pop and bled more. The tiniest of red like bead came out. Eventually the bleeding stopped. It hasn't shrunk since then and still looks the same. Surrounding skin is normal. Has anybody else had this or similar? I've got no other lesions anywhere else.

I would suggest getting it checked out. If it's an infected boil you might need antibiotics to clear it.

I've booked an appointment for Saturday morning. It's the earliest I could get. Not helping my health anxiety at all though 😕

I get these all the time! I have hidradenitis supprativa
They are usually sore, and black/purple, pop with a bang and loads of blood then stay the same for a while and pop again
It's just a form of spot

Kyse · 27/04/2023 11:01

Just pulled this off google but mine look similar, sometimes smaller/bigger/darker
They take a bit to heal and you might see the skin looking flaky or or burst and bleed again

AnyFucker · 27/04/2023 11:05

Sounds like a angiokeratoma. Google it.

Mnb321 · 27/04/2023 14:28

This is what it looks like. Sorry for the pic. You can see where it popped from the little bit protruding out.

I'm ever so sorry OP, but the sporners would love that...! 😂

Believe me I've tried and failed. Couldn't get it to pop!

That doesn’t look like an angiokeratoma actually

RuthTopp · 28/04/2023 08:15

I don't know what it is but as you have an appointment tomorrow I suggest you leave it alone so the Dr can see it as it is rather than all squeezed out as it may just refill / grow again.

Wishona · 28/04/2023 08:19

Maybe an infected Bartholin’s cyst. You are right to to be seen. The only thing I would do for now is bathe in salt water.

UPDATE
just came out from seeing the GP and he seems to think it's either hemangioma or an abcess from a hair follicle. Has prescribed me antibiotics to see if it goes away. If it doesn't then other options are to have it removed by way of freezing it off or some other method. Definitely nothing sinister. 🙌
Thank you all for your comments. X

Just wondering if the antibiotics helped? I have a similar spot for 3 months now. Looks like a blister but there's also a hard pea sized bump under the skin. I've lanced it a few times but it keeps filling up with pus, blood and clear fluid. And the hard bump won't go away.

I got antibiotics yesterday and GP recommended ultrasound if it doesn't go away. Wondering if antibiotics did it for you?

They did absolutely nothing for me. Still the same, still there unfortunately. Let me know how you get on. X

Hi @LaPianista + @Mnb321 if your situation hasn't resolved then I would get an opinion from a dermatologist with interest in vulvar issues as if your lesion hasn't resolved then you may need a biopsy. Obviously is has been a while since your post, but most cyst issues will either resolve it increase in size & pain requiring attendance/drainage & with your lesions lasting 3/7months I would suspect there is another cause besides the every day casual vulvar/labial cyst. There are a number of V/V dermatology issues that could be the cause, if not resolved I would definitely seek a second opinion + aim for a biopsy to rule out anything sinister like a vulvar cancer +/or be inspected for any other signs of a dermatology condition that can be treated. Your situation does not at all sound like lichen schlerosus, but using that as an example there are some benign conditions that will warrant monitoring as they can precede vulvar cancer. Though I do hope your situations have resolved :)

Get one of those spot sucker things on it.

Hi, did your spot ever resolve itself? I'm 8 months pregnant and have the exact thing on my outer labia. I'm a bit worried, I went to the doctor and she thought it was a blood blister which would go down in 1 to 2 weeks but that was 3 weeks ago now.

Vava123457 · 13/08/2024 06:41

Hello did you ever find out what it was

agwl0911 · 01/06/2025 11:59

Hi, just wondering of this resolved? I got 3-4 on lebia majora. I am also 7 months pregnant
