Are these symptoms from cleaning up my diet?

I am on a mission this year to clean up my diet and make healthy choices.

  • I gave up caffeine as I was drinking crazy amounts. The withdrawal headaches were insane but I pushed through and no have limited caffeine in my diet.
  • I have now started to adapt The Gut Makeover principals in my eating (basically eating protein, fruit and veg and cutting out gluten). I can't do it as extreme as this so allow myself one large piece of sourdough a day, with cheese and sauerkraut. My fruit and veg intake has gone from 1/2 to around 7 pieces a day. My gluten intake has gone from cakes/croissants/slices of white bread to one slice of sourdough a day and a tiny bit in some rice cakes! However, instead of feeling amazing I feel lethargic and my sinuses are blocked up. I've had a bad sore throat all week, eyes streaming and nose blocked. The only thing I can put this down to is my change in diet... has anyone else experienced similar and can I ask how long it lasts?

Xxx

Those symptoms sound more like Covid-19.

Embelline · 15/04/2023 16:44

Are you sure you haven’t just picked up a cold or a virus?

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 15/04/2023 16:47

Sounds like hayfever, birch pollen is crazy high this year.

Bloody awful isn't it?

Lcb123 · 15/04/2023 18:53

It just sounds like a cold or hay fever to me. And caffeine isn’t that bad in moderation - read what Tim Spector says about it

TheMarzipanDildo · 15/04/2023 18:57

Thats all very impressive OP!

Iliketeaagain · 15/04/2023 18:58

Have you also cut out other carbs? Because it could be carb flu - I got it when I did low carb initially, but it passed in about a week.

@TheMarzipanDildo thank you! Also I giggled at your name. Am intrigued haha

@Iliketeaagain I've cut out most gluten and carbs (excluding potato/sweet potato) but not have rice, grains etc etc

I vote hay-fever. Take an antihistamine and see if you feel better.

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 15/04/2023 19:35

It is @SiouxsieSiouxStiletto DH was in a bad way with a sinus induced migraine yesterday because of it. Usually we start the anti-histamines a bit later in the year but have had to get started early this year.

bluebottle23 · 15/04/2023 19:36

Will take an anti histamine tomorrow and report back
