Has anyone used the emsella treatment (pelvic floor)

I'm considering this due to stress incontinence but its pricey. Has anyone had it? Its a chair that you sit on and it effectively does thousands of pelvic floor exercises for you in minutes.

Anyone had the treatment and would be kind enough to feed back?

I'm 48 and have had some issues since DS2 was born 15 years ago but they're getting worse.

Kegel8 machine exercises pelvic floor for 1/10th price

Iwasafool · 10/07/2023 10:33

If money is an issue I bought this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tenscare-iTouch-Sure-Gel-Lubricant/dp/B01CHVZCRK/ref=sr_1_9?crid=21AKEH7B2DATU&keywords=tens+isure+pelvic+floor+trainer&qid=1688981504&sprefix=isure%2Caps%2C880&sr=8-9 and for £60 it has made a big change for me. My issue was urge incontinence and this has a setting for urge and a different one for stress. You do need to commit to using it regularly for a few months and then just once or twice a week for top up.

ssd · 10/07/2023 22:57

Thanks, I'll look into that

ssd · 10/07/2023 23:01

Actually, can you tell me a bit more about it , i have urge incontinence but the reviews aren't clear what its about...

Well it is a battery device and without being too graphic it is like a bullet thing you insert. You can select a programme, urge or stress for the initial weeks and then there is a maintenance one. You select how strong you want it to be and how long, so 10, 20, 30 minutes etc.

Bit embarrassing but I had to buy a larger "bullet" initially as the standard one wasn't connecting enough. Within a week I could use the normal one.

For about 6 weeks I used it most nights, now I do it a couple of times a week. The urge programme is gentle and just seems to calm my bladder down.

I'm not sure what else to say, is there anything specific you want to know?

Thanks. Do you feel its helping you?

Shwighty1 · 19/07/2023 06:35

So I’ve completed the course, and had a couple of weeks. I have to say I’m impressed, I’ve sneezed, been on a trampoline, drank booze at an big party and certainly noticed things in the bedroom. Everything feels stronger, controlled and capacity /control of my bladder is definitely better. Whilst I agree on the pricing being an issue it is prohibitively expensive for some people, it has worked for me. I might reconnect with my clinic and ask them to consider doing some form of cheaper pricing model for some. It’s such an emotive issue, you are trapped by the issues caused by a ragged pelvic floor, to charge a lot seems vulgar.

Part way through I really did feel like it wasn’t making much difference but after that I really concentrated on correct positioning and looking out for small changes. What I would say is don’t rush to get appointments too close together. Allow the muscles to recover. I had to squeeze in a Monday and a Wednesday and I think that is too close together.

Yes, I don't have a problem now, I think I bought it about 8 months ago and sometimes forget to do the maintenance programme as I've sort of forgotten it is a problem.

Tornandbroken · 10/08/2023 19:04

@Shwighty1 which clinic did you go to? Did you use the emsella or pelvipower? Was yours urine or bowel? Mines bowel urgency.

Strongertogether1 · 22/09/2023 14:13

I've booked myself in for the Pelvipower chair. It's similar to emsella. Its cheaper though £80 a session and need about 4-8 weekly sessions. Going for initially consultation to see if I'm the right candidate in 3 weeks. There's not many round though. I've having to travel 40 mins which isn't too bad

Tornandbroken · 22/09/2023 17:57

I just finished 10 sessions of pelvi power. For me it hasn't made any difference at all.

Shwighty1 · 24/09/2023 23:14

Mine was a Cheshire clinic just found through Google, it was for urine stress incontinence rather than bowel, worth asking clinicians though. I used the emsella chair, still having great results

It is still doing the job, so glad I found it as I was rapidly heading towards full on incontinence pads, I was using panty liners but they weren't really up to the job in the end. Don't even need them now. It is very liberating. We take so many things for granted don't we and then suddenly we lose them and it is horrible.

pippin3110 · 14/01/2024 13:34

Whereabouts is this please x

Tornandbroken · 15/01/2024 21:50

@pippin3110 they have it in several locations. Where are you based?

ssd · 15/01/2024 22:57

Is there a website to show the locations?

Tornandbroken · 16/01/2024 06:54

There isn't a website. Different places have different chairs. So you'd just have to Google. I went to one in central London in baker street

pippin3110 · 16/01/2024 07:24

Hi I’m in Stansted. X

Looks like you can buy it straight from the company itself. Think it might be slightly more expensive.

Lincolnshiregrandad · 22/01/2024 23:48

There is a nurse presciber clinic in Lincolnshire, Frieston near Boston that is 500 for six sessions, far more realistic price.

ssd · 23/01/2024 11:05

Thanks @Iwasafool

Spudina · 23/01/2024 22:08

I’ve had this. Probably at the same place. I wasn’t incontinent before apart from some stress incontinence. I definitely felt “tighter”‘afterwards, and my husband could feel the difference. I can’t stay it lasted, but I didn’t do as many pelvic floors as I should have. You should also be assessed before by a physio, as it could be that you are too tight already (I was and didn’t know it). I do think it has a place.
