Possible inflammatory breast cancer?

Hi All.

I am terrified i have inflammatory breast cancer. I have a GP appt for tomorrow and will also go to my maternity hospital tomorrow morning (all closed for bank holiday until then). But need some advice until then.

I'm 24 weeks pregnant and in the last week my boobs have gotten huge, especially the right. The right underside of my breast is now very red and the skin texture has changed. Its not too hot, and nor is it painful. I'm terrified its not mastitis or another inflammation, but inflammatory breast cancer. I have a picture below.

I'm terrified as I'm a single mom by choice, and now I feel I could die and leave my precious baby an orphan. I need some advice and reassurance. Thank you.

I imagine it might be pregnancy related. It is good you are going to maternity clinic tomorrow and contacting gp who will hopefully reassure you.
I am waiting for Breast Clinic appointment for a lump and can tell that you too have been Googling. Try very hard not to. Easier said than done I know.

If need support before tomorrow perhaps call 111?
I know very hard...

I have a similar thing, 10 weeks pregnant and my right breast has gone a bit redder than the left, and there is some slight thickening which I notice when I pinch the skin. Not hot, sore or itchy. Went to the GP and she recommended I use hydrocortisone 1% cream for a week and then also gave me a referral for an ultrasound if it doesn't clear up. Am terrified so know exactly how you feel, googling only brings up the worst case scenario. Let us know how you get on x

Hi Ladies. Good news to report. Both my GP and hospital consultant told me it was pregnancy related changes which calmed my nerves. Weds night however I woke up to my areola completely swollen over (cue internal panic). I went back to the GP and requested a referral to a private clinic where I had already called and organised a breast ultrasound. Luckily the ultrasound was done by a consultant radiologist specialising in breast cancer. They say the ultrasound should take 15-20 mins. I think mine was less than 5. She saw absolutely nothing sinister, 100% not cancer, but did note some cysts in my milk glands which are already filled with milk. She said the skin discolouration is blood flow and the rapid growth is from the milk and cysts filling. She said I'll have no problems breast feeding, and sent me on my way. Ill sleep better tonight 😊 @DinkyDaisy good luck with your appointment, I hope you too have a good outcome. @Justgivemeicecream hope that the cream works well for you!

Good news @Suzie1991. I too had reassuring outcome. Mine was a cyst.
Enjoy your pregnancy.

Brilliant news @Suzie1991 and @DinkyDaisy What a relief. Mine seems to be improving, I've started wearing a sports bra during the day and night which has helped the skin to calm down a bit so I expect it was just hormone related changes, but will go for a scan if it doesn't completely go. Pregnancy does weird things to our bodies!

Hi everyone,

I am 21 weeks pregnant and have had similar symptoms to you both. Redness, soreness and the thickness of the skin.

I had an ultrasound this week but am still waiting on the results. I have also been given the cream as well.

I’ve done all the googling and all it does is make you worried.

I was just wondering whether your doctors said your redness will go away or if it has gone away?
