Hi everyone - any opinions?
I got the copper iud around 5 months ago. Before that I have never used any contraception (been with my partner for years and have kids) so always tracked ovulation. I also have pcos so my cycles are irregular every time (can range from 40days to over 3 months).
since getting the copper iud I had spotting for around 1 week in my last cycle but other than that no symptoms except for heavier bleeding on period. This cycle (which I’m now 8 weeks into!) and have been spotting for over 5 weeks now. Every single day. It started off as spotting but now it’s enough that I need a panty liner (but not enough to call ‘bleeding’ or needing a pad?).
it seems to be that most of it is actually my discharge that’s just got a blood colour rather than it actually being full on blood. When I wipe on the toilet it’s a red/pink colour but on the panty liner it’s just brown/dark brown.
yesterday I had quite a lot dark brown gunky stuff. Today I’ve just got out of the shower and it’s pure brown water running out of my vagina (tmi). Usually when I ovulate I go through a stage of having pure watery discharge - it’s like that but completely brown! Along with that the inside skin of my labia looks slightly red and feels a little sore.
I had a gp appointment and the dr mostly put it down to the copper iud and said it causes irregular bleeding. However she’s left swabs for me to do and will be testing everything just incase.
has anyone else had experience with this? I’m getting worried and I need to get a smear test done but they won’t let me if I’m bleeding or even spotting so at this rate I just can’t get it done!
