Hair loss! Help!

I'm 34 and since October my hair has been shedding massively and it's only getting worse.
I have a baby September 2021 and I'm Feb 2022 I started the pill, but changed to the copper could after 4 months. That gave me heavy painful periods so recently changed to the mirena coil.

I'm not sure if it's hormonal? Huge clumps of hair come out when I was, even running my hands through it brings out loads of strands.

My fringe is basically none existent now.

Has anyone had this? It's getting upsetting now.

Hi I am going through exactly the same . Hair shedding in huge amounts , telogen effluvium it’s called . It kicked in 3 months after I had been critically ill . I have lost almost all my hair and am now wearing a wig , no signs of shedding easing and it’s 6 weeks in . I cannot begin to explain the affect it is having on me , it’s devastating

My hair thinned at roughly the same age as you after the birth of my second child. People reassured me it was normal, but it just kept shedding in handfuls. I started fearing washing my hair. I have about the same amount of hair as a toddler with fine hair now. It’s rubbish. I’ve spoken to doctors, but they weren’t interested and put it down to my age. I don’t have any advice, but I understand how you feel.

If you've had heavy blood loss then it could be anaemia, which does cause your hair to suffer. Get some bloods done and if low push for an iron infusion.

Agree with pp. with heavy blood loss low iron can cause hair loss. Ferritin needs to be above 70 to support hair growth.
Thyroid issues, low B12, low vitamin D all cause hair loss.
Ask the Dr for blood tests and get a print out of results. Levels are reported as ‘normal’ anywhere from 20 for ferritin but really needs to be a lot higher for hair.

Hi @storyofus I had hairloss following illness. I take super complex vitamin B & use L'occitane Volume & Strength shampoo. This has made a huge difference. My hair stopped falling out after 2 weeks & 6 months on I have several inches of regrowth. It looks & feels so much thicker.

It's worth a go. Good luck!
