Am I through menopause?

I have taken mini pill for about 5 years, so no periods (except when had a stomach bug a few years ago)
I am 53 and decided in Feb to stop taking the pill to see if I had a period.
That was about 8 weeks ago.
Does this mean my periods have stopped ( fingers crossed)? Or could i still get one in a few weeks/months?

My doctor told me I was through it when I had gone a full year without a period.

Yes it's one full year without a period.

The thing is, I havent had any periods because I have been on the pill which totally stopped them.
I just need to know really if its likely I could still have another period after 2 months off the pill?

Menopause is defined as:
No period for 2 years if under 50 or
No period for 1 year if over 50 or
Over 55

You may well be through it but simply cannot say until you have have waited 1 years since stopping pill
