Periods getting closer together... is this peri?

I'm ashamed to say I know literally nothing about menopause/peri menopause.

I'm 39. I started my periods at 10 if thats at all relevant. Over the last 6 months, my periods have started to get closer together after a lifetime of being like clockwork.

I've noticed over the past 2 years I've been alternating between one very light, then one very heavy month too.

Does this mean I'm heading towards menopause?

What's the best way for me to learn more about it? And why the fuck aren't we taught this stuff?

Could well be and it can go on for a decade.

Menopause matters is the website to review.

I had very similar last year and as I was under 40 my Drs were happy to refer for blood test and scan to check. The tests suggested it wasn’t menopause, periods have been still been 3 weeks apart mostly but then sometimes 4 again. You could call your surgery and ask, mine were helpful.

This is good to know. I have an appointment booked for something else in a few weeks I'll mention it then.

10 years though! Jesus! Why can't we just get it over with!
