Been suffering with BV for about 6 weeks now, taken a course of antibiotics (metronidazole) taken probiotics orally, using pessaries and the squirty gel and it's still not really shifting. It's definitely not as bad as it was but I think that's because the pessaries and the gel have it slightly under control. No pain, no itching but it's impacting life and I've had enough now! Should I look at diet? Trying a probiotic pessary? Another trip to the GP for a different AB? Ironically AB's can give me thrush so it's almost a bit of a vicious circle. I recently took omeprazole alongside naproxen for a foot injury and I wonder if that did something to my gut balance? I took it to protect my tummy from the naproxen. I don't use any contraceptives and have been with husband for years. Anything I haven't tried?

Did they take a swab to diagnose?
Maybe ask for a further swab & a chlamydia check too?

Often, BV can be mistaken for other conditions, such as yeast infections or sexually transmitted diseases, such as chlamydia

I once had thrush so bad a GP told me I had herpes. Swab after swab came back negative, the treatment didn’t work and I was in agony for weeks. He still insisted it must be herpes despite tests coming back negative and swabs for thrush coming back positive. When I was finally prescribed fluconazole it cleared up within a couple of days. Surprise, surprise it wasn’t herpes after all.
