Can't stop eating

I had a baby 12 months ago. I've exclusively breast fed her since birth. She now drinks some milk/water from a munchkin cup so I'm only feeding her first thing in the morning, bedtime, once at night if she wakes and if she's really fussy once in the middle of the day.

I'm just constantly starving all the time and can't stop eating. I thought cutting feeds down would help curb my appetite by now but I feel like it's even worse now and I'm gaining weight. I'm always in the kitchen eating and it's getting me down so much.

Any ideas on how to stop constantly eating? I'm trying to eat better and have foods with protein to keep me fuller for longer. I don't have "junk food" in the house otherwise I just eat it. My biggest weakness is bread and pasta.

I just want to be able to have breakfast lunch and dinner without snacking all day as well.

Hi Abbs, as someone who has constantly dieted for 30 years I have finally found calorie counting best, I use my fitness pal app, I also plan what I'm going to eat that day and week. Going for an hours walk everyday is making me lose more. I am constantly hungry too and a massive snacker. Your baby is still young it's exhausting when they are that little. Good luck I'm sure you will start to lose now.

Try increasing your protein, you are probably getting blood sugar spiked that then fall causing you to want more carbs.

So eggs for breakfast and some nuts to snack on etc. Perhapd also get something like myfitnesspal just to track and keep a note of foods and you might be able to identify some healthier swaps you could make.

You’re being hard on yourself OP. 12 months of breast feeding? Of course you’re starving!!! It takes time for your body to re-regulate after that. I k kw and others do too! So you feed and eat… are you still breastfeeding? If so, how much? I wonder how old you are too. Metabolism, etc. Be kind to yourself and your beautiful body as it re-adjusts. You’re still you! X

Oh thank you. I will take a look. I think having two young children it's hard and I just grab bits for myself but make sure they are both fed so I end up eating on the go or eat their leftovers if there is any.
I will try and walk more. I do plan meals for the week, well dinners and the kids Lunches but need to get better at sporting mine out.

Thank you. I will definitely try that. I need to find more eggs! Always out of stock where I live. My 12 month old has complex allergies but eggs is one of her safe foods so I make sure she has enough first. I definitely need to be more organised.

Aww your so sweet. I wasn't sure if it should have started to re regulate yet as Im not feeding near as much as i had been. I am still breastfeeding. 1 feed first thing in waking, 1 last thing before bed, 1 at night. If she's really fussy 1 in the day but she mainly drinks a milk alternative from a beaker.
I will be 29 next month. I just want to feel happier and healthier. My breastfeeding journey has completely taken it out of me as I had to exclude so many foods due to my daughters allergies. She wouldnt touch prescription formula or a bottle so its been me only feeding her. I've been able to add some foods back in now and as she's eating 3 meals a day it is getting easier.
I will try to be kinder to myself. Thankyou
