Has anyone experienced light, irregular bleeding towards the end of their time with a contraceptive implant?
I’ve had my implant in for over two years, in fact it has only got a few months left before it needs replacing. Usually my periods are very regular, (both before and with the implant), but recently things have changed.
Over the last 3 weeks I’ve had one normal period, then 5 days later I had a couple of days of pinkish discharge, followed by a couple of days of nothing, then two days of very light bleeding, then a few more days of nothing, and now a few more days of pinkish discharge. It’s like the start of a period but then it doesn’t seem to really get started.
I know they say irregular periods are common on hormonal contraceptives, but I’ve been so regular for so long that this feels a bit odd.
Is this a sign that my implant is beginning to run out? Or some other sort of problem? I’m or nothing at all?
Google seems to blame stress for early / irregular periods but I wouldn’t say I was particularly stressed (until I started stressing about this!)
