Bleeding after orgasm

Itsacrazyworldisntit · 15/03/2023 13:30

Hi all,

Name change due to embarrassment. So CIN cells removed 3 years ago, clear follow up smear but bleeding during intercourse. Had it checked out after a year and silver nitrate was applied. This didn’t solve the issue and the bleeding continued just during sex.
However, the bleeding now happens after a non penetrative orgasm which has really started my anxiety off and I’m struggling to function.
I can’t get into the GP, so have had a private GP appointment for a referral today.

Anyone had any similar experiences?

Thanks in advance.

I don’t know if anyone is still up but I’m in a panic, just passed lots of brown discharge.

If it helps I get spotting sometimes after, and also around when I ovulate
Currently have brown discharge now, 10 days before my period
All normal for me, I've had a smear, swabs etc and no issues

@Rebel2 thanks for posting. Can I ask how long you’ve had this for?
Sorry TMI - My discharge was brown and bitty and I had to use a lot of tissue. It was followed by watery discharge.

I am up. I have had this for years. Am well into peri (8 years in - it's a nightmare!). Because of massively irregular cycle I've been on the 2 week pathway 3 times now. Never any issue found. I just figure it's something annoying I have to put up with for now. HRT has really helped my cycle - I'm on one that isn't supposed to allow periods, but I still get some sort of breakthrough bleeding quite regularly, with clots and variety of discharge. It does sometimes get me down but mostly I just live with it and hope it'll stop soon. Because they can never find anything, and investigations started so long ago, I figure I'm just putting up with it till I come out of the other side of menopause. It is still always during sex, but now rarely after only orgasm. So it is getting better, but has affected our sex life. I have had discharge from brown, to red, to blackcurrant jelly like stuff! But apparently there is no problem. It is definitely getting better than it was, but I don't know if that is the HRT, or just time (I'm 52 now). So I would say please try not to worry, but possibly do be prepared for some annoyance about it if it lasts and they can't find anything to 'fix' :(

@pencilcaseandcabbage i’ve had the post coital bleeding for ages so feel that I have to put up with that but this is something new and that’s scared me.

The bleeding after orgasm lasted for a few years before that stopped - I have no idea when the post coital will stop, but as i said it's at least 8 years that has been happening - I think possibly over 10 years? But every time I have been checked out they just tell me everything looks really healthy. I totally understand that something new like this is scary. I do find it upsetting and annoying at times, but mostly just live with it, as you say. If you have a GP appointment, please try not to worry. They will check you out. But what you have described sounds very similar to what I have been putting up with, including the watery discharge - this is permanent for me and actually the most annoying thing. I have to wear night time sanitary towels 24/7 and they still don't always absorb or catch it all, if I've been sat down for a while. I suspect many women will have similar just don't talk about it - as you say, it's embarassing! I'm just hoping it all stops for me soon. But please try not to worry. For me all is 'healthy', just annoying, and it is most likely to be the same for you x

A good few years now and because I was having UTI issues they tested me for just about everything. I also have full bloods every 12 weeks. Have a coil too
They just said it's one of those things

Thank you all for your kind words x

Can I ask what happened with this? I'm having the same :(

HotSince82 · 05/08/2023 23:34

Hi, OP was started on HRT.

Her GP said this was due to peri.

Itsacrazyworldisntit · 09/08/2023 19:00

I haven’t been started on HRT and I saw a private gynaecologist who referred me back to my GP for a referral to be seen in his clinic. My appointment is next week - I’ve waited 5 months.

Hi Op. what was the outcome for you please?

Itsacrazyworldisntit · 12/04/2024 06:22

So, I had a hysteroscopy with a biopsy, polyps and fibroids were found. They fitted the coil which is still taking time to settle down.

Oh gosh! Bless you. I hope you're okay :-( and are recovering well. I had cin3 cells removed, normal smear, but now bleeding again. In the anxious stage of waiting for an appointment to come through!

Itsacrazyworldisntit · 12/04/2024 12:07

I had cin cells removed too a couple of years ago, they had to cauterise it as it kept bleeding after sex.

@Itsacrazyworldisntit ah I wonder if this is what's happening to me as well as it started after the CIN removal!

Itsacrazyworldisntit · 12/04/2024 12:22

It could be, as it’s a tricky place to heal. Especially with it being poked 🙈
