I never took HRT & menopause started a long time ago. I didn't think I needed it but now I get the sense that everyone seems to have it and I wonder if I would have benefitted. I was extremely busy at the time; I changed jobs and went back to working full time with a still young-ish family so I just didn't think to explore the idea.
It sounds like there are great benefits but maybe some women don't have HRT and are fine?

Also, to defend my ignorance - it used to be a near taboo subject whereas it's like talking about the weather now where I work.

I have used a Mirena, Oestrogel and topical Oestrogen for seven years now. I always thought that I wouldn't take HRT but after months of struggling with VA to the point I couldn't sleep, sit or walk around a supermarket without severe discomfort I couldn't wait to start it.

Mid fifties here, started menopause properly about 3 years ago.
Tried uterogestan patches but got terrible racing heart and, could physically feel my body swelling up (half a stone in 3 weeks)...so stopped.

I get night sweats and have had to invest in decent lubrication as I no longer produce any naturally. Joints a bit sore.

I did buy and take some fashionable 'women's' gummies recently, which thought were for meno but were actually to even out pmt etc in pre-meno people. I got the most rampaging sore tits, and pmt on them! Don't know what was in them, but it reminded me that life pre-meno generally included a week of fat, spotty and angry... not convinced I want that back!

I may try the oestrogen pessaries for the vag side of things though.

It's good to know, I had started to feel as if I unwittingly walked past a miracle elixir of youth and would look ten years younger if I had picked it up.

I do think it is regarded as the elixir of youth by some! Usually the ones who refuse to give it up are those desperate to stay looking “ young” in their nineties! To reassure you, the people I know who take it, don’t look any better or younger than those who don’t!
Other factors are far more important for ageing well, care of diet, not smoking of drinking alcohol etc.
