Breast cysts - duff advice?

Had a breast cyst drained a couple of years ago, and I've just found a different lump in my other breast.

The consultant told me not to bother getting any more looked at unless they were painful and to wait a couple of weeks to see if any lump I find goes down. I do remember being a bit shocked by this, but I guess it makes sense IF it is a cyst. But how do I know for sure???

Is this usual does anyone know, or have I been given duff advice?

very different to my experience which was for cysts picked up on routine mammo who no one could feel as they were smaller than a grain of rice.
2 years of 6 monthly checks (breast ultrasound and one radiologist insisted on a biopsy). longest 2 years of my life. told this was standard protocol where i live.
