Mini Pill (Cerelle) + Chest Pain + Breathlessness

So I started the mini pill (Cerelle) less than 2 weeks ago. On day 11 I started having sudden sharp chest pain half an hour after pill number 11.

I've never had chest pain before, so I feel like the mini pill has caused it since it is the only thing I have done differently lately. But looking it up online doesn't suggest there is a link. I have stopped taking it the last few days, but I'm still struggling to catch my breath throughout the day and getting on and off chest pain all day and night. The pain doesn't seem directly connected to my breathing though, so I don't think it is my lungs.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? And did it ever wear off?

I feel like it is quite a coincidence if it wasn't the mini pill that caused this, but I have no way of knowing for sure. I keep getting hot and sweating too which is not like me at all (I'm usually always freezing!)

Id probably see a doctor. The pill can increase blood clots so get checked out.

This pill doesn’t increase the chance of bloods clots as there’s no oestrogen in it. You might have a chest infection/pleurisy, call your GP.

Hiya, did you ever get to the bottom of it. I ended up at the doctors then A and E this week, exact same symptoms, my throat felt like it was closing up, my chest felt like it was being crushed, pain going to my shoulder. I had an ecg and it came back clear. All I've put it down to as being different is my Cerelle, I've stopped taking it. But it was scary.

A doctor told me it is a very rare side effect of the mini pill. I can only assume the issue was caused by Cerelle as I had just started taking it. Palpitations started within a few days of the other symptoms too. The whole lot took a few weeks to a month to wear off. I was disappointed as I really needed the mini pill for period control but didn't get the chance to see if it would have helped. How long did you take it for before your symptoms started?

Did you look at the leaflet OP? You can find it online if you got rid of it. I'd go back to your GP and ask for a switch. I didn't agree with Cerelle personally but had different symptoms.

I've been taking it 6 weeks now, the symptoms started within 2 weeks, chest stabbing, weight gain/ general water retention. I thought I would stick with it and see if they went but it just got worse, especially in the evening. It's made me absolutely exhausted aswel, having to lie down in the day and feeling heavy like I can move. Did you have all that too?
I've seen 4 doctors and not one of them considered it could be the pill, I had to figure it out for myself. I get awful migraines and the pill helped instantly, but after 6 weeks I feel like I'd take the migraines over feeling like I'm going to die!

Also, I'm glad your feeling better now.
