Hi
So went to GP last with symptoms…
-No period for 2 weeks after it was due (he wasn’t fussed at that).
-Having very bloated upper abdomen
-Unable to eat much in quantity at all without feeling like I was going to pop
Without telling me, he arranged for me to have blood test CA125 - I assumed it was a reg blood test as he hadn’t mentioned CA125 and when I found out, I was surprised as I didn’t think it was supposed to be used as an early screening tool due to to its unreliable nature.
Ive asked Gp to call back and speak to me so they’re ringing later.
What should I be asking now - CA125 came back normal.
Bit whilst the major bloating has displeased somewhat, it doesn’t take long for it to return on eating a normal size meal and since my appointment, I’ve had pale pink light bleeding almost daily - not constant but on and off. Still no full period. This is now week 6 since my last proper period.
Mayo Clinic & Cancer.org both say CA125 can show abnormal levels in people with no ovarian cancer and people with ovarian cancer don’t necessarily always have abnormal CA125 levels. Seems crazy that the NICE guidelines suggest using it as an early screening tool.
Should I ask for a transvaginal scan or full bloods do you think?
