Problems with Mirena coil?

Hi I’ve had the Mirena coil for about 17 months now. Always had bad cramps every 2-3 weeks, not always bleeding though.

Anyway my partner and I done the deed two nights ago and he definitely hit the actual coil, it was agony and it still is.
I’m still experiencing very bad cramping, it hasn’t stopped at all since. The pain is reducing me to tears. Painkillers aren’t really helping. I’m unsure if this is normal or not?

Hi, this on top of various others experiences is why i won't get the Mirena or copper coil etc whichever it is.
I have heard that it can be possible for your partner to feel the thread or strings that hang down, but i don't think you should be experiencing what you have. It could have moved. I would book in with GP to be sure or nurse whoever did it for you.

Not normal I would say.

I have the mirena and never get cramps.

Can you get to a doctor on Monday? Did you try yourself to feel the strings / whatever your husband felt?

Sound like it may have dislodged somehow.

No, not normal at all- sounds like you've partially expelled it. I'd call 111 to try to get an emergency appointment for removal or else go to A&E (before anyone tells me this isn't right, it's what I was told to do by my gynaecologist when something similar happened to me). You'll need to use another form of contraception until you can have another one fitted (if that's what you wish).

Had the mirena and a myriad of problems with it but not that. It sounds like yours has dislodged and you need to get it removed ASAP.
