Open myomectomy recovery

Hello

I had an open robotic myomectomy last week and am wondering how long it took others to recover?

The consultant told me 3-4 weeks until I go back to work but I wfh and feel a bit of a fraud because I think j could work (at least a few hours a day). I've been given a 6 week sick note and am dreading handing that in.

Can anyone advise?

I can't advise on this procedure but bumping for you - in my general experience of recovering from surgery (hysterectomy in my case), you shouldn't push yourself to work before the recommended recovery period - don't underestimate the tiredness you will feel as your body works to heal itself. Consider also a phased return to ease yourself back in.

No one will thank you for coming back early, or even remember how long you were off once you are back.

Hoping your recovery goes well.

Hope you continue to recover well. I took the full six weeks off but could probably have gone back after 3-4 weeks. I found that the first week was great, then I had a couple of weeks of being a bit more sore. But I was thrilled at the recovery and lack of complications. It was quite a few years ago now but I had the op in the August and was pregnant with twins at the end of the November.

I'm awaiting a gynae review for fibroids and I think this procedure is likely to be in my future. Having had 2 x c-sections, I would echo, don't push yourself too quickly. It's easy to feel like you're ok, only to find you're not. Hope you heal quickly.

Thanks for the replies!
I'm normally very active but obviously walking far isn't really on the horizon just yet. X
