Vaginal bleeding - not pregnant

Hello,

Has anybody had unusual vaginal bleeding between their periods - what did this turn out to be?

I have been referred to the hospital but not sure how long that could take with all the tests etc.

Definitely not pregnant or a miscarriage.

No other symptoms. Also have really thick / rubber like discharge. Worried :(

Hi there, I know this is an old post but wondering if you found out what was wrong?

I've currently had two periods within 10 days of each other and taking many pregnancy tests all negative.

I am currently waiting on blood results coming back. X

hogwarts2345 · 24/02/2023 17:41

Hello,

Still ongoing for me for answers! My blood test came back abnormal a few days ago (high prolactin levels) - but my doctor wasn't overly concerned at this time.

I've also had an ultrasound and get those results on Monday.

Let me know how you get on x

Thanks for replying. Hopefully you'll get some answers on Monday.

I just find it so frustrating not knowing what's goingeith my body when am normally so regular.

hogwarts2345 · 24/02/2023 19:26

I feel the same! Literally never ever had a non regular period; it's so frustrating . My main concern is being able to conceive in the future :(

Fingers crossed it's good news for you on Monday.
I am 42 so thinking maybe it's perimenopause for me, which I actually feel fine about but just want to know one way or other.

WoWsers16 · 24/02/2023 19:32

Hey sorry to hear that-
So yes I have and to be honest it wasn't a great result for me - it was cervical cancer :(

I had an internal and external ultrasound that came back clear so please do not leave it with just an ultrasound:(

Have you any other symptoms? X

hogwarts2345 · 24/02/2023 19:51

Hi @WoWsers16 - my cervix has been checked; all was fine. So sorry to hear that was your outcome. How are you doing now?

OP posts:
hogwarts2345 · 24/02/2023 20:13

I also had a lletz for abnormal cells so they thought it could be that which had not healed properly - but that looked okay too. No other symptoms other than bleeding.

I'm in remission! Yay xx

Hopefully they'll be able to figure out what's happening soon for you! It's a worry xx

cadink · 25/02/2023 07:48

@Wowzers 16 glad to hear you're in remission. do you mind if I ask what tests they did to diagnose if ultrasound isn't sufficient - is it a smear test?

LBF2020 · 25/02/2023 07:58

How high is/was your prolactin? I'd push to be seen by a endocrinologist. I did and was diagnosed with a Prolactinoma. I take medication to level off the prolactin and I'm currently 4 months pregnant.

LBF2020 · 25/02/2023 08:01

Also.. increased prolactin is linked with endometriosis (which I also have) so a referral to gynae would be good too.

bandbsmummy · 25/02/2023 08:19

Yes, I had an internal ultrasound and have a polyp. Have an appointment with gynaecology next week. Not sure if they will remove there and then or do extra tests.

hogwarts2345 · 25/02/2023 08:51

@WoWsers16 that's amazing news, very happy for you! X

OP posts:
hogwarts2345 · 25/02/2023 08:54

@LBF2020 it was only slightly high (in the 600s) so she said she'd do a repeat test and then go from there. Can I ask how high yours were please?

OP posts:
hogwarts2345 · 25/02/2023 08:55

@bandbsmummy oh interesting. I wonder if it might be that - I'll find out on Monday! How do they remove a polyp?

OP posts:
hogwarts2345 · 25/02/2023 08:57

@cadink - just jumping on this. I had a smear. It came back abnormal, so I had a biopsy / Lletz to remove the abnormal cells. (This was a month before the bleeding though).

LBF2020 · 25/02/2023 09:30

@hogwarts2345 just checked and it was 1049. It got down to 22 when I started meds (it's back high again now due to pregnancy)

hogwarts2345 · 25/02/2023 10:16

Thanks @LBF2020 and massive congratulations on your pregnancy!!❤️ glad it can be brought down with medication. X

Whataretheodds · 25/02/2023 10:18

Friends who had this had, respectively, a vaginal polyp, endometriosis, and a fibroid on the uterus. I don't know about their prolactin levels. As Wowzers says it can also be a symptom of cancer.

Hi I know this is an old thread but @WoWsers16 I wondered if you could tell me how they diagnosed you if the ultrasounds were clear? Been having bleeding cycles and have a GP app but wondering what tests to try and push for? Considering going private

Hope you're doing well!
