My period is kicking my ass

My youngest child is 16 months and breastfed, my period returned when he was around 9 months so they've only been back for 6 months or so. At first they were fine. Very light bleeding for a day or 2. Then they started to get a lot heavier, which I guess was to be expected. This month however it has knocked me for six. I have felt incredibly nauseous for about 4-5 days now. To the point where I haven't been able to eat properly. I have had diarrhoea and constipation in the same day and awful gas. Also extreme tiredness. I'm always lacking energy but the last few days I have been absolutely exhausted. I'm not fit to do anything. All I want to do is curl up on the sofa, which is hard to do with a job, 3 kids and a house to take care of.

I'm considering speaking to the GP if this keeps up but for now I am just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar?

Thanks

Have you had your iron levels checked?
Anemia s a vicious cycle where it actually makes a heavier period abs then co tributes to worsening iron stores.
After pregnancy many women are low in iron and it can take a long times for levels to increase. If you are now having heavy periods it can be making it worse.
i would have a simple blood test to see.
