Bear with me, I'm a male.

So we've all heard of premenstrual tension, but is there a thing as post menstrual tension? To be clear I don't mean menopausal, I mean the week after each period. Most internet references relate to the menopausal type.

My OH gets really stressy and to be honest hardwork in the week after her period. She's late 30s, but It's not new, she's always been the same. It's just now with two young kids it's ever more apparent. She has no patience, tired, bites everyone's head off, can't make a decision, ranty andwhatever I do I'm wrong. It seems to get to a crescendo before things improve before the cycle starts again

There is no discussing it with her during this time and even after she's reluctant and closed on the matter. She's been experiencing unpleasant painful periods recently and has mentioned going to the docs possibly for the pill, but keeps putting it off, largely because the GP is so hard to access these days and because this postperiod period happens and she seemingly CBA.

I've considered if she could be low on iron, but short of hiding pills in her food I'm not sure what I can do as she won't consider or discuss it.

I'm really chilled and let it wash over me but it's getting old, really old. Today we needed to pick the kids up from grandparents, grab some food and bread for lunch, have lunch and me to leave for work at 2pm... There is no rush or sense or urgency from her, here I am sat in the carpark of the shops waiting for her to reappear at five past one, so no lunch for me. But I've been shouted at for rushing her away from GPs.

Is there such a thing as post period stress?

Or am I imagining it?

I have severe anxiety during the week after my period so I wouldn’t put it past being hormone driven. There is such a thing as post-menstrual syndrome so maybe look that up? Unfortunately little will be done by the GP to help except the pill.
