Experience of Prostap for Fibroids

I have been on Prostap since October for Fibroids. They worked really well, quite quickly.
I'm now back to having the pain back and a slight bleed. I'm also on add back hrt to help with the menopausal symptoms.
Would love to hear from others who have had this injection. The side effects have been brutal.

Hi @nameeechangeee I had Prostap for seven months to stop my heavy bleeding with fibroids. My side effects weren’t too bad but it didn’t work in terms of stopping me bleeding, I still bled badly every four weeks. It didn’t shrink my fibroids but they did stop growing and they’d been growing quite fast so that aspect of it kind of worked for me. Hope that helps! I didn’t take the add-back HRT.

Thank you for your reply LulaK. Did you have an mri? Mine were found by the gynae examining me. My concern is how long the wait is for a hysterectomy. It is literally ruining my life :(

@nameeechangeee i had an ultrasound to diagnose, think that’s what they usually do. And yes I’ve had my hysterectomy. Life-changing, I am no longer anaemic and feel better than I have in years. Hope you get yours soon! X

Mine didn't show on the ultrasound. So glad you are feeling so much better! It gives me hope! How long did you wait for the surgery? Xx

I jumped the queue a bit because I bled so badly. I was told in June that it would be “hopefully this year” but I was hospitalised in November while still waiting and they did it as an emergency.

Sorry you’re having such bad side effects from the Prostap. Is the add back HRT helping? People have very different experiences with the same meds it seems, must be a lot of luck involved.

Thankfully, my bleeding is much better due to the mirena coil, but the pain is unbearable, still.
Hrt has helped a bit but not massively sadly.
Fingers crossed I don't have to wait too long. You must be so glad to have your life back xx

Yes, it’s been a game changer. I‘m still getting better. I’m sorry to hear you’re in so much pain. I really hope they get you sorted soon. X

I had a prostap injection at a similar time to you, next period arrived as usual (I'm normally like clockwork) and the nothing since. I had a robotic myomectomy last week and had the mirena coil inserted whilst I was under. I've bled (very lightly!) since then. I'm unsure whether I will bleed again as I think the coil stops normal periods.
