Anyone else had issues after sterilisation?

I had my tubes clamped 18 months ago along with another surgery to try and reduce my heavy periods. The other surgery was supposedly going to stop my periods altogether or make them very light but it didn’t work. My periods are now all over the place, not quite as heavy but sometimes I randomly bleed with no warning. I seem to be having at least 2 periods a month and awful ovulation pains in between. I am wondering wether getting sterilised has caused these symptoms rather than the other surgery? Has anyone had similar?

I know I need to go back to gynaecology but I am worried that my only option will be a hysterectomy. I am a carer and single parent to a teen with disabilities so I can’t be out of action for weeks 😬.

Sterilisation didn’t make a difference to my awful periods. I ended up having an ablation - it was a life changer!

Ablation is what I had and it’s made little difference, my periods are not as heavy as they were but they are definitely not light either. I am on day 10 of bleeding at the moment 😭

Sterilisation will not cause these issues. Endometrial ablation does not work for everyone.

Yes, sadly I think I am in the small percentage of people it doesn’t work for. I am unsure what my options are other than hysterectomy?

I had an internal scan a few weeks after I had the ablation and the sonographer said it looked like I hadn’t had ablation as the lining of my uterus was still thick, i mentioned this to the gynaecologist and was told the surgery had worked and it would thin out, they brushed off my concerns and sent me on my way.

I never had period problems before sterilisation. After the op I had frequent, heavy painful periods with a migraine on top every time. The periods were helped by Ponstan but the migraines were awful. It took a few years to settle down. I don't know how common this is but I would possibly not have been sterilised if I had known this was a side effect.

I had an awful night, cold and hot sweats, weird dreams, my period had almost stopped yesterday and now it’s like it’s all started again.

I will try and talk to my GP next week to see what options I have. I am unsure if I can go on the pill or injection after being sterilised?
