so ever since i hit puberty, i've been struggling with an awful itch in/around my vagina.

i remember a few years ago, i had awful itching on the outside of my outer labia, right beside the crease between it and the leg. it got so bad that i remember getting thick scabs down on a few occasions, and that just made it itch more. i have very short nails, so you can imagine how bad the scratching must've been to cause that. i saw doctor, but was told the itching was just a result of where i would sweat during PE? i told him the itching was constant, not just on days where we had PE, and that it felt way too bad to just be that, but he said it was either that or eczema, and there was no rash.

after i managed to stop scratching enough for the scabs to fully heal, the itching calmed down a bit. it never went away, but was more bearable. until about 2020.

usually its on the inside of the inner labia, but i have had it be around the outside of the actual vaginal opening a few times. there has been a few occasions where it's been so bad that i've scratched to the point of my inner labia bleeding, and when that happens i start feeling like i need to pee every 2 minutes even after going.

i've been tested for utis multiple times, including recently, and have never presented with one. doctor says its not thrush or bv, and i am not sexually active. i'm also still a teenager, so causes linked to menopause probably aren't it.

i can't think of why this happens to me. unless it really is eczema, but it's literally nowhere else on my body? i don't remember a lot from when i was younger than about 12, but i can remember that i was constantly being told to stop scratching "down there" as a child, so maybe it's been going on for a lot longer than i remember.

if anyone had any idea, please let me know.

Are the itchy areas white at all?

I thought of lichen sclerosis too! Read the link that discobrain posted. Does it sound familiar?

littlebirdieblu · 02/02/2023 16:29

Lichen sclerosus was my first thought too

Have you ever tried using antifungal creams or combined antifungal/steroid creams? When I had terrible itching in my leg creases I got prescribed canesten HC and also got prescribed an emollient to use when washing the area - dermol 500 I think.

i don't think it was ever white on the outside, i just remember it being red after scratching it lol.

inside, i haven't had the chance to check but i will soon. i will say though, the itching on the inner labia is usually always in the same exact spot. the skin there also feels smoother than the rest, if that makes sense? i don't know if that's normal tho lmao
