Antibiotics… now have a UTI?

Forgive me if i sound ridiculous, but I have huge health anxiety and haven’t experienced this before. Wondering if anyone else has…
I was prescribed Penicillin V after 10 days of sinus infection. After my course, I had what I thought was a bad back from lifting my toddler. It got worse over the weekend and my partner commented on my… apologies if tmi…. Smelly urine. I couldn’t smell anything as all blocked up still.
Has anyone had experience of antibiotics causing UTI? I haven’t had one for over a decade and have no idea how else I would’ve got it.
The symptoms of my sinus infection are now creeping back and I feel utterly miserable.
i’m usually fit and well, so this is making me worry :(

Yep. Very common. Antibiotics don't distinguish between bad bacteria and good, so have got rid of the good bacteria in your waterworks probably.
Hope you feel better soon.

Fairly sure there shouldn’t be any bacteria in your bladder - any up there are all bad. Best consult a GP.

Thank you - I asked my GP but they said very unlikely that Penicillin V has caused my urine infection. Feel very confused as it seems antibiotics does have an impact for many people? My GP said antibiotics will cause thrush occasionally but no link to UTIs... :(

Absolute rubbish. Urine is normally sterile. Antibiotics won’t have caused a UTI.
