Mirena - bleeding again after a year of nothing

Hi, just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience.

I'm on my second Mirena coil, which I have to control my very heavy periods. Have had no issues, and have had no bleeding at all since about a month after it was inserted in November '21.

I've had the odd bit of brown discharge over the past few months, but not really been concerned. However, morning after DH and I had sex on Saturday, I had some dark red blood when I wiped. This has continued and seems to be increasing slightly (still only enough to need a liner though).

I had no bleeding whatsoever with my first Mirena, so I'm a wee bit concerned especially since it happened after sex.

Not to drip feed: I have been told I have an ectropian cervix before, and my smear is v overdue (appointments are rarer than rocking horse poop round my way).

Hi I have a mirena coil I had no periods up until September last year. I have just had my smear ( which you need to get done! ) it came back high grade abnormal and high risk hpv.. my last one was clear . I have just had LLETZ procedure to remove the cells and biopsy them. Iv had symptoms such as bleeding cramps and discharge for months now and put it down to my coil…if you haven’t had a smear then defo get one. But it could also be your boyfriend had been a bit to rough with you and knocked your cervix so don’t panic but defo get a smear !! X

Thank you. I have made an appointment for a smear (finally!) but hopefully that will be all clear.
