Anyone had a cyst on their bits before? *Graphic

It's just underneath to urethra

Had it a while. Feels ready to burst! It hurts and makes me feel like I need a wee

It sort of overshadows it a bit so the urethra is a little hidden behind this lump/cyst

Anyone had one before? How long did it take to go away? Blush

If I had to draw a picture of what I can feel, it would be a urethra and a giant ball bag underneath! But obviously it's not that big, about the size of a small grape

Gp OP. And fair warning that you've posted a pic of an incredibly intimate are.

babyofme · 25/01/2023 15:56

Just want to clarify that it isn't vaginal opening etc! Definitely not part of that hole at all and completely separate just in case someone comments it's my womb or something

@OrlandointheWilderness I did put graphic. It's woman's health and there's no detail other than the cyst/lump itself, no other bits on show!

Doesn't bother me (student nurse! 😂) just wanted to flag it u in case you hadn't realised.

babyofme · 25/01/2023 16:02

@OrlandointheWilderness ooo good luck with everything 🍀 hope you enjoy

I didn't want to waste time with a GP who would probably think I'm being dramatic

What makes you think that’s a cyst? You need to see the GP, I wouldn’t leave that too long without medical intervention

OrlandointheWilderness · 25/01/2023 16:06

If you are concerned about something always get it checked. No one knows your body better.

Julen7 · 25/01/2023 16:08

? Bartholin’s cyst. Need to see GP I would think.

babyofme · 25/01/2023 16:09

@Isanyholeagoal sorry I don't want to sound dim but that's what those things are called I thought? It's a lump/cyst

I will try and get to see a GP but it's almost impossible. I've tried all week now and no appointments. Unless it's an emergency they say. It's just awful

OP posts:
thaegumathteth · 25/01/2023 16:09

I think it is an emergency

Isanyholeagoal · 25/01/2023 16:11

That is an emergency, you need to tell them they need to see you asap

queenofthedryshampoo · 25/01/2023 16:11

Looks like it could be a Bartholin's abscess. I had one just before Xmas...so painful. After antibiotics given by GP didn't work, I ended up going to UTC and was fast tracked to gynae ward where it was drained and a 'word cathether' put in. This promptly fell out (supposed to be in for 2 weeks). Second one fell out as well Confused in the end a second lot of stronger antibiotics worked and it has healed up. It was all very painful I have to confess. Definitely go to GP to get it looked at. Good luck.

babyofme · 25/01/2023 16:13

Thanks so much

I have had a Bartholin's cyst before and it was painless so I didn't think this was it? I suppose the cyst itself isn't painful but more so the way it's making it more difficult to urinate (but I still can, it just hurts a lot)

Bartholins cysts aren't usually painful, but they can then get infected/full of pus which is when they blow up into a horrible, painful abscess. I'm not a doctor but your pic does look exactly like my abscess did. When I went to the Urgent Treatment Centre I didn't have to wait luckily, I was sent straight to the ward for treatment (did have to wait a bit there for a doctor).

holierthanthou73 · 25/01/2023 16:37

OP I’d say that’s an emergency! Get seen, you must be is such discomfort. Get on that phone. All the best getting sorted

Insertusernamehere123 · 25/01/2023 16:41

Bartholins cysts are close to the vag I think.

Anyway, I had one of these fuckers about a year ago. Called gp and was told to pop it. I used a sterile needle to burst then squeezed the shit out of it. Quite painful but so worth it. I cant remember if I was given antibiotics or not so call gp just in case.

Insertusernamehere123 · 25/01/2023 16:42

Oh and it was in the exact same place as yours.

Pop it?! Blush I feel faint at the thought

It's so bloody thick in the sense that the skin making up this lump is rock solid and feels a bit like the texture of a hard baby bump, ready to pop

DottyLittleRainbow · 25/01/2023 16:57

Definitely seek medical advice, OP. It does look like it could be a bartholins cyst. If it’s painful it could be infected.

Insertusernamehere123 · 25/01/2023 17:15

Yep. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news😬

If I remember correctly the gp said I could take antibiotics and see if it goes away but best to just pop it and drain it since it was causing me a lot of discomfort (couldnt sit or walk normally)

Honestly the relief was immediate once I'd popped it.

PollyAmour · 25/01/2023 17:36

Definitely need to see a healthcare professional, that looks nasty

Bitteralmond · 25/01/2023 17:46

You should see a healthcare professional. I had a Bartholins cyst once and got rid of it by alternate hot and cold compresses. You could try that if you cannot get an appointment straight away.

Cileymyrus · 25/01/2023 22:30

If it’s getting hard to urinate that would be your emergency.

hellobethyname · 25/01/2023 22:36

It is a bartholins cyst. I speak from bitter experience.

hellobethyname · 25/01/2023 22:39

If it hurts it's infected and if it doesn't it's a bloody unsightly pain in the arse literally but not a massive issue

I have one about that size but it's not infected and doesn't bother me

Unlike the other year when it got infected and I ended up in emergency surgery. They have a horrible tendency to come back however.
