Bleeding between periods breastfeeding

My little one is 14 months and still breastfeeds during the day and night. My period started back in November but since then, heavy bleeding has been happening roughly every 10-14 days.

I've made a dr appointment but it's really worrying me that it could be something sinister. Is it normal for this to happen when nursing? I think my periods returned pretty regularly with my previous kids.

Any thoughts/experiences would be great to hear :)

@iamamama did you find out what was causing this? is it still happening?

Hi, I am currently in a similar position. My little one is 15 months old and my period returned in December, I had 2 regular periods, one that was 2 weeks late and now bleeding 9 days after my last period stopped. I assume it's because of breastfeeding.

Did the doctor give you any advice?

Hi

I have had this and still have this every couple of cycles. I went to the doctors and she was pretty sure it was hormonal due to breastfeeding and wasn't concerned.

Good idea to get to the docs for peace of mind and check it's nothing serious.
I need to go back really but keep putting it off.
Xx

Hi op, did you find out what was causing it? Are you ok?

I never used to bleed at all on the mini pill. I went back on it postpartum and breastfeeding. Since, I get irregular bleeding. Still breastfeeding now he's 2 and i still bleed irregularly. I had a smear as it was worrying me (and I was overdue for one), fortunately all clear. So in my experience it seems to be what happens postpartum and with breastfeeding!
