Reoccurring lump/cyst labia minora

I have quite large labia majora. My labia minora are not so large but it means everything is always quite tucked away not a lot of air!

Every month (without fail) generally after my period I develop a painful cyst/lump on my left hand labia minora. Of course it’s close to the hood of my clitoris so is very sensitive! Eventually it grows and grow, gets very uncomfortable then pops of it’s own accord.

DH reckons it’s cos I’m tried/rundown post period. I wash 1-2 times a day. I only use water on my intimate areas. I generally only shower not bath.

Should I see the GP I’m kind of at a loss as to what they can do.

Following with interest as in the same situation.

@bookish83 sorry to hear it! I’m wondering what a GP could do to stop it. It’s deffo about 3 days after my period and uncomfortable probably gets to small pea size under my skin and enlarged labia. Very very sensitive and when it pops it stings but the relief is amazing!

I asked my GP as she didn't seem to care/know/show interest.

I never used to get them, its more recent and does seem linked to my cycle

Ive used magnesium paste before when i could get away with it in specific locations and that helps. It is really painful though especially walking!

I had a small lump once where you describe, gynaecologist said it was a swollen gland. It drained on sqeezing and never reappeared. Sounds like yours keeps filling back up. Request an examination when its easy for GP to see, maybe a course of antibiotics would break the cycle.

Just read your update....definitely sounds like a bartholins cyst

LadyLolaRuben · 22/01/2023 08:32

Bartholins cyst are common and very painful. My friend had one removed Xmas eve and an emergency it was that painful. It was instant relief as you describe

RedCarsGoFaster · 22/01/2023 08:38

I get them much lower down the minora and it's definitely a Bartholins cyst. A good soak in hot water tends to help and it either pops in a few days or fades away.

Yours don't sound as though it could be the Bartholins gland, but there are other types it could be which might make more sense. images.app.goo.gl/9XrpVxTDbzDMCmew9

I don’t think it’s bartholins as it’s kind of in the centre of the labia minora , very sensitive!! Yes thinking I should see a GP because happens in the same spot (no pun intended). I’d say 8 months of the year at least!! Does get uncomfortable to walk. Also happens when I’m run down.

Thanks @RedCarsGoFaster I might get DH to pin point it precisely but to be fair I can feel it!!
