Has anyone had varicose veins removed? How was your recovery and what was the pain like?

I haven’t had mine removed but I had them treated with EVRF and foam sclerotherapy - so effectively the same as removing. They were really bad and affected my every day life so even though I went private it was worth it. It took two weeks to not feel sore and then it takes up to 6 months to fully sort out with veins closing and being reabsorbed but they already look and feel so much better after three months. It’s important to manage your expectations of what they will look like though- totally depending on what you have done and how bad they are. I don’t regret doing it though at all and it was a walk in and walk out job with the Vein Clinic in London. I’d say there wasn’t really pain - more discomfort. I’d recommend you look at these minimally invasive routes before looking at having the removed (stripped) as you can just get on with life then.. I was back doing everything as normal the next day. If you are thinking of having them done then I’d say go for it - stop them getting worse and leading to ulcers etc.. you deserve to get them sorted!
