I don't think she said the word ovary, just"left 1c"

Could it have been "left one seen." When I had a transvaginal scan recently they could only see one of my ovaries. Though the sonographer (if that's the correct term) told me at the time that all looked good though she could only see the one ovary. I hope all is well and someone will be along soon to explain what 1c means.

Yes, probably left one seen. They cannot stage a cancer via just a look at an ultrasound. It's quite common to not be able to visualise both eg if bowel is in the way. Don't panic.

MaverickGooseGoose · 19/01/2023 15:19

One seen

ANiceBigCupOfTea · 19/01/2023 15:20

Sonographers generally just know whether something looks 'normal' or whether more investigation is needed - as told to me by a sonographer.
Try not to catastrophise - I know that's easier said than done. I hope your results are quickly in and its good news 💐

Hi, I’m not an expert here but I don’t think a sonographer wouldn’t be giving a grading or diagnosing anything like this just from what is seen. It’s likely a form of shorthand notation simply for what is visible. At a guess ‘c’ could be cyst, but really could be anything to do with the appearance. If you are in a panic can you phone for advice?

birthdaybonanza · 19/01/2023 15:23

Fairly sure it's 1 seen, had IVF and that's what they say when they are examining. 1 seen on each side (ovary)

twoandcooplease · 19/01/2023 15:27

Yes I agree with pp's it's what I'd have thought too - left one seen

encoreunfoisnumber2 · 19/01/2023 15:29

Thanks all. "1 seen" makes more sense. She called out a load of numbers she said were measurements. Then said to get results in 7 days time from GP. I'm now reading into that comment more, ie you will need to speak to your GP from what I saw.

Results always go to your GP, so can’t really read anything into that; other than the fact it’s not being rushed through quicker which suggests they’ve not seen anything worrying

Adarajames · 19/01/2023 15:40

To add in case above not clear, 7 days for results to reach GP is normal, not rushed for any reason

SaveMeFromMyBoobs · 19/01/2023 15:47

If there is something wrong I've always got a result quicker. E.g. bloods say will take a week. I'll ring after over a week for them to go 'oh, yeah they were fine'. The one time i was anaemic i got a call the day after the blood test. Left one seen is much more likely, or '1c' could be one cyst (very common to have cysts on ovaries and can be quite painful!).

Luckysdadsrules1 · 19/01/2023 15:47

If they said 7 days it is not a rush. They probably said one seen.
In my experience the scan is sent quicker than that to the GP so it might be worth calling the surgery and asking them if it’s back before then if you are worried x
