Talk to me about solving problematic periods

Always had painful periods but so much worse since children. Symptoms include pain in abdomen, back and legs, fatigue, heavy feeling in limbs, constantly cold, headaches, brain fog, feeling sick, breathlessness, short temper and debilitating anxiety. I've looked into getting the implant but it's a 2 month wait at GP surgery and 7 month wait at local sexual health clinic, I can't go on some contraceptive pills as family history of clots. Has any one experienced these symptoms in relation to their periods, if so how are you managing them??

Sounds really rubbish. Are they heavy too? Do you think you may be low on iron? Consider taking a supplement. But for the aches etc I recommend magnesium. Bang on the GPs door and get an appointment sooner. You shouldn't have to wait so long.

Mirena coil did the trick for me. I'd had a couple of decades of horrific periods and abdominal pain, and after a lot of pleading I finally had scans. Ovarian cysts, one of which burst inside me, and fibroids. I had surgery to remove my ovary (other one was fine) and the mirena coil fitted. That sorted out the heavy bleeding within a couple of months and I'm happy to say I never had another period nor any pain. It was replaced a few months ago and I'll continue having them. They don't suit everyone but for me, it was a miracle after years of suffering and bleeding constantly. Shortest gap I had between periods was about 4 days, longest was around 14. I was exhausted, anaemic, depressed, in agony and honestly ready to call it a day. That's how bad I felt.
